When the constant current drive technology is used to change the heating of the stepping motor with speed, the current of the stepping motor will remain relatively constant at static and low speeds to maintain the constant torque output. The speed is high to a certain extent, the internal reverse potential of the motor increases, the current will gradually decrease, and the torque will also decrease. Therefore, the heat caused by copper damage is related to speed. Static and low speed heat is generally high, high speed heat is low. However, the iron loss(although the proportion is small) does not change, and the entire heat of the motor is the sum of the two, so the above is only a general situation.
Why the stepping motor will heat up For various stepping Motors, the interior is composed of a core and a winding coil. The winding has resistance, and the power supply will produce a loss. The loss is proportional to the square of the resistance and the current. This is often referred to as the copper meter. If the current is not a standard DC or sine wave, it will also produce harmonic losses. The iron center has a hysteresis Eddy effect, and it also produces losses in the alternating magnetic field. Its size is related to the material, current, frequency, and voltage. This is called iron loss. Both copper and iron damage are shown in the form of heat, which affects the efficiency of the motor. Stepping motors generally pursue positioning accuracy and torque output, the efficiency is relatively low, the current is generally relatively large, and the harmonic component is high, and the frequency of current switching also changes with the speed. Therefore, there is a common heating situation in stepper motors, and the situation is more serious than that of general AC Motors. The reasonable range of stepping motor heating to what extent the motor heating is allowed, mainly depends on the inner insulation level of the motor. The internal insulation performance will be destroyed at high temperatures(above 130 degrees). Therefore, as long as the interior does not exceed 130 degrees, the motor will not be damaged, and the surface temperature will be below 90 degrees. Therefore, the surface temperature of the stepping motor is normal at 70-80 degrees. Simple temperature measurement methods can use point thermometers, but they can also be roughly judged: You can touch for more than 1-2 seconds with your hand, not exceeding 60 degrees; You can only touch it with your hand, about 70-80 degrees; A few drops of water quickly vaporize, it is more than 90 degrees.
How to reduce the heat of the motor to reduce the heat, is to reduce copper and iron damage. Reducing copper damage has two directions, reducing the electric shade and current. This requires that when selecting a type, a motor with low resistance and low rated current be selected. For a two-phase motor, a motor that can be used in Series does not need a parallel motor. However, this often conflicts with the requirements of torque and high speed. For the selected motor, full use should be made of the drive's automatic half-current control function, which automatically reduces the current when the motor is static, and the latter simply cuts off the current. In addition, the subdivision drive will have less heat because the current waveform is close to sinusoidal, and there are fewer harmonics. There are not many ways to reduce iron damage, and the voltage level is related to it. Although the high-pressure drive motor will bring about the improvement of high-speed characteristics, it will also bring about an increase in heat. Therefore, appropriate driving voltage levels should be selected, taking into account high band, stability and heat, noise and other indicators.
The impact of heating motor heating, although generally does not affect the life of the motor, for most customers do not need to pay attention. However, severe fever can have some negative effects. If the thermal expansion coefficient of the internal part of the motor is different, the change of the structural stress and the small change of the internal air gap will affect the dynamic response of the motor, and the high speed will easily fall out of step. Another example is that some occasions do not allow excessive heating of the motor, such as medical equipment and high-precision test equipment.
